MLAC NEWS, EVENTS, & UPDATES

Here's a bit of good news from the Montana Governor's office:

Governor Gianforte Announces Montana Secures Federal Funding to Establish Behavioral Health Clinics

Securing funding for Certified Community Behavioral Health Centers is an important first step, but only a first step. We need to ensure that the CCBHC system works the way it's designed to work, and that it serves the people it's intended to serve.

                                      June is Pride Month!

In June we celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of the LGBTQIA+ community, commemorating the 1969 Stonewall Riots.

From the National LGBT Task Force:

"It’s easy to think Pride is simply what you see posted on social media. But that is far from the reality. Pride is more than just a party: it’s a political catalyst that’s been building social change for years. It is and should be both, and its continued relevance and importance cannot be underestimated."

                                  June is Men's Health Month!

From "Mind Body Co-op":

"Men’s Mental Health is an essential part of overall wellness, yet it often receives far less attention than it deserves. Every year, the conversation around Men’s Mental Health becomes more vital as awareness grows about how deeply mental illness impacts men across the United States. Issues like depression, anxiety, and stress continue to affect millions of men, making men’s emotional wellness an urgent public health priority. Nearly one in five adult men experienced a mental illness in the past year, yet many continue to struggle in silence. Despite progress in public dialogue, men remain far less likely than women to seek help or receive treatment for mental health challenges. Cultural expectations and the belief that men must appear strong and self-reliant often discourage emotional openness. This reluctance delays diagnosis and allows symptoms like depression, anxiety, and chronic stress to intensify over time."

From the Kentucky River District Health Department:

"As Mental Health Month comes to an end, remember to take care of your mental health all throughout the year. Check in with yourself, give yourself grace on the hard days, and never be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Healing, growth, and rest are all part of the journey, and your mental well-being matters every single day, not just in May."
